Regal Princess, Red Rock, Dublin Bay, 6th May 2024
A small hike today up Red Rock in Sutton in Dublin Bay, the cruise ship Regal Princess was heading out to its next port of call. It was a 52m elevation gain and an easy enough hike.

Edmond (Edward) Jennings Victoria Cross Sell's For Over €64,000
Переглядів 26314 днів тому
Edmond Jennings was awarded the Victoria Cross (VC) once, but there are two medals carrying his name. The most likely explanation is that Jennings’ medal was sent out to India, along with the other Bengal Artillery Victoria Crosses, and presented to him there. Queen Victoria wished to decorate him in person at a ceremony in Windsor in 1860 and another cross was made, but Jennings’ ship was dela...

Lovely
There's that sound, what did you call it?
Beautiful views
I just didn't like that crap attitude from that Chinaliga guy !! I love football. I've never heard of him
I think most saw him for what he was, Clive Toye thought he was a malign influence over Steve Ross and Franz Beckenbauer called him a brown nose.
Ditch that bloody awful music !!
That's not very much considering they average £200k my MC was sold last year for £55k
Hi Mark (Danny Boy?) nice to meet a hero if it's you. Yes, there is a story to it, long and short two VC were issued to Edward, one was sent to India but he had already departed for England, a second was made up and was awarded. A second Victoria Cross, plus campaign medals, thought to be the original, resides with 'F' ( Sphinx ) Battery, 7th Parachute Battery, Royal Horse Artillery. The low price probably reflects the fact that it was never issued. This in comparison to the €1m price tag for a VC awarded to a civilian in the same campaign ua-cam.com/video/CoAA98Nz1b4/v-deo.htmlsi=hsrkQwseidFjS5jZ
It was open!!?
Every so often they unlock the tower for people to go in.
And apparently the bell tower was part of the old mansion and was moved here after the house burnt down.
very interesting and sad at the same time.
I’ve never heard an Irish AI lmao. Very informative video though.
what's more upsetting and not mentioned in the short is that the two men were sitting on the sea wall discussing their emigration to the USA the following day, unfortunately they never made it. John Brady lost two brothers in the first word war and I covered it in this video: ua-cam.com/video/-PYe4f2rgLQ/v-deo.htmlsi=tu75xsMeEC4bGXvo
@@AdventureIreland I’ll make sure to give it a watch! Always love to find channels that cover topics that aren’t widely known.

Lovely day in Dublin.
I love Luke Kelly and The Dubliners, The Auld Triangle is a great song.
What was the black & white plaque after the two Brady headstones?
That's a plaque for Francis Higgins aka "The Sham Squire" who died in 1802 . His headstone was demolished by angry republicans. In the second half of the 1790s Higgins was the chief source of information to the under-secretary in the civil department at Dublin castle, Edward Cooke, on Dublin civic affairs and on the activities of Dublin catholics, United Irishmen, and other dissidents.
Wow, that's alot of rain water in behind the sand dunes..
That's normal this time of year, it's the marsh land with plenty of frogspawn
Beautiful AI. Lovely clouds too ❤
Lovely day for a beach walk.
Hi Steve & Lyndsey @reactingtomyroots I thought you might be interested in this one since you did Glasnevin Cemetery, it's the story of the O'Connor family (mother and 4 children) who died from eating poisonous mussels. Their headstone depicts an angel as the mother and 4 cherubs as the children, a very sad story.
Hi Steve & Lyndsey @reactingtomyroots I thought you might be interested in this one I came across, a WW1 WW2 German Cemetery in Glencree, County Wicklow, Ireland. It also has photos of some of the soldiers who were crash-landed over Ireland.
very interesting
Very sad indeed.
Brusque 🌀
Any interesting beach finds?
The usual stuff like old bottles, polish tins and the blue Traprogge balls.

Nice 🍀

Yes, this is the famous Glencar waterfall mentioned in WB Yeats Stolen Child
Very Nice, I love the poem Stolen Child, nice to see Glencar Yeats mentions.
This is the Wooden Bridge in Dublin, it links Clontarf to Bull Island Nature Reserve

I am looking to get some Old Irish Goats. Do you know of anyone who may have some?....or can catch two or three wild ones :) I have contacted the Old Irish Goat Society but they are not interested in letting any go at the moment.
Francis Cosby and William Cosby are my ancestors on my mothers side....so I found this very interesting. Thank you!!!
Does that mean you are on the guest list every year for Electric Picnic? Thomas Cosby is the current owner of Stradbally hall and where they hold the festival and is a living relative of yours. 😊
I was working at the festival last year and drove past the cemetery almost daily so I went in did a little research and made the video. A very interesting place.

@@AdventureIreland Ohh I wish! My last name is actually Robinson...the Cosby family is married into the Boothe family here in the USA which is my mothers side. William Cosby was born in Stradbally but then moved to New York. He suppressed the colonists from talking smack about the British government to the point that his wikipedia page says it later caused the push for "Freedom of the Press" to be a leading issue for our founding fathers during the Revolutionary War. lol I guess he was given a thousand acres in Herkimer NY but then died in Fort Battery which was just down the road from where the World Trade Center is today.
Our World Governing Body is called F.I.F.A. this is what it stands for: F.=federation I.= international F.= FOOTBALL A.= association, As The World Name for The World Game is FOOTBALL ... Fact!.
Nice historical video. Thank you for sharing 😊
Beautiful old graveyard and church
What a heartbreaking story. Glasnevin cemetery is beautiful, I will do the tour some day. It's definitely on my bucket list. No pun intended..
HMS Hecla not Helca!
Thanks, Noted in description
Nice Historic robot story.
I think that's a thanks Telly, I did this story a few months back with no voiceover, just text and music, the majority of the feedback was that it needed a voiceover as people were not reading the text. I redid a few of my videos with AI voiceover and it seems to work good. 👍
@@AdventureIrelandwho cares if it is AI voice or not it is history something some of us probably never heard of. Thanks for sharing 👍
Although, was he really Irish or was he Anglo?
Born and lived in Ireland, Irish!
Ok fair enough 😊
@@BrunosadventuresYou should get in contact with the "Victoria Cross Society" who will give you a list of the Irishmen who were awarded the VC. Another interesting Irishman who won the VC was Martin Doyle. He was awarded for bravery on the Western Front while serving with the Irish regiment of the British Army the Royal Munster Fusiliers. He was also a recipient of the Military Medal. After the Great War he returned to Ireland and joined the IRA and was an Intelligence Officer during the Irish War of Independence 1919-1921. Hundreds of IRA men were Great War veterans and five had received gallantry medals including Martin Doyle.
